You.com Search APIs: More Value at a Lower Cost

No one should have to jump through hoops or deal with confusing plans to access high-quality APIs. In an industry where pricing can often feel like a maze, we’re here to break the mold. That’s why You.com is excited to announce that we’re lowering the cost of our Web Search API to just $5 per 1,000 calls and our Contents API to $1 per 1000 pages, while still delivering the same powerful, accurate, and reliable results you’ve come to expect from us.

Our mission has always been to make cutting-edge AI and search technology accessible to developers, businesses, and researchers alike. This price reduction reflects our commitment to that mission, ensuring that your projects can thrive without worrying about skyrocketing costs. And here’s the best part: we’re not cutting corners. You’re getting more flexibility and value than ever before—at a lower price.

Affordable Pricing Without the Complexity

Pricing for APIs can sometimes feel overly complicated. Hidden fees, extra costs for additional features, and more—it can quickly turn into a headache.

Our approach is different.

We want our pricing to be as straightforward as possible, so you can focus on building, innovating, and scaling your projects.

With our Web Search API priced at just $5 per 1,000 calls and and our Contents API priced at $1 per 1000 pages you get access to the same powerful search capabilities we’ve built into You.com. That means fast, accurate results that can seamlessly integrate into your application or workflow. Whether you’re building a search engine, powering a chatbot, or conducting data analysis, you’ll find it easier (and less expensive) than ever to bring your ideas to life.

What’s Staying the Same? Research API Pricing

We’re also keeping our new Research API pricing unchanged. For those who rely on our Research API to power their projects, you can continue to enjoy the same affordable structure. We understand that consistency matters, especially when you’re managing budgets and planning for the future. That’s why we’ve chosen to leave these rates untouched while still improving the overall experience of working with You.com APIs.

Our Research API remains a powerful tool for those who need access to specialized information and insights, and we’re proud to continue offering it at competitive rates that support your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What's changing with You.com API pricing?

We've simplified and reduced pricing across our Web Search API and Contents API.

Web Search API is now a flat rate regardless of how many results you return per call (up to 100). No more tiered pricing based on result count. Each result includes full page content, so you get search and content extraction for all 100 results in a single call at no additional cost.

Contents API is still available as a standalone endpoint at a significantly lower price.

Product Old Pricing New Pricing
Web Search API (1-50 results) $6.25 / 1K requests Web Search API (1-100 results)
$5.00 / 1K requests
Web Search API (50-100 results) $8.00 / 1K requests
Contents API $10.00 / 1K pages $1.00 / 1K pages

Research API pricing is unchanged from its launch on 3/3/26.

2. Am I getting less for the lower price?

No. You're getting the same APIs, the same accuracy, the same rate limits, and the same infrastructure. Nothing was removed or downgraded. The pricing reduction reflects infrastructure optimizations on our end that we're passing along to developers.

3. Why is Contents API pricing so much lower?

Infrastructure optimization. We've made significant improvements to how we crawl, extract, and serve page content. The cost to operate Contents API dropped substantially, and we're passing that directly to developers.

4. When does the new pricing take effect, and will my existing plan update automatically?

The new pricing is effective immediately. Whether you're on a pay-as-you-go plan or a grandfathered monthly or yearly plan, the new lower rates apply to your account automatically. No action required on your end. If you're on an enterprise or custom contract, your existing terms are honored through the end of your current term.

5. How do I get started or get an API key?

Sign up here and get your API key. No credit card required. You also get $100 in free credits to start building. If you already have an API key, it works as-is with the new pricing.

6. What happens to my existing free credits?

Your existing credits carry over. Nothing changes with your credit balance. All usage starting March 12, 2026 will be billed at the new rates, so your remaining credits will go further.

7. Does this affect Research API pricing?

No. Research API pricing is the same as when it was launched on 3/3/26. The pricing update applies to Web Search API and Contents API. All pricing info is available here

8. Do rate limits change with the new pricing?

No. Rate limits are unchanged. You get the same throughput at a lower price.

9. I'm on an existing plan or contract. How does this affect me?

It depends on your plan type:

  • Pay-as-you-go: The new pricing applies immediately. No action needed.
  • Discoverer or Explorer plans: Your plan and allocation are unchanged. To take advantage of the new lower rates, you can switch to our pay-as-you-go plan, which has no minimum spend. Contact your account manager to make the switch.
  • Enterprise or custom contracts: Your existing contract terms are honored through the end of your current agreement.

10. Is there a minimum spend, or is it truly pay-as-you-go?

No minimum spend. You pay for what you use, and you start with $100 in free credits.
