From Prompts to Metadata

Every new wave of technology starts with a “toy phase.” It’s the tinkering phase where you start to understand the baseline capabilities of a new tool.

Let’s apply this tinkering phase to artificial intelligence (AI) and agents. Think back to the first time you typed something into a chatbot and got a coherent response—it felt like magic. Then, however, the magic started to wear off and you realized that, instead of summoning magic, you’ve summoned the equivalent of a slightly overeager intern who is actually only 15 and who sometimes makes things up.

When it comes to agents, however, tinkering is a necessary first step. It demonstrates the level of patience needed (the intern needs to be taught) but also allows for more advanced iterations down the road. As agents become more mainstream, the way we interact with them is changing—evolving. The basics no longer cut it—it takes more to get the real magic to emerge.

Spoiler alert: it’s not just about prompting.

In this ebook we explore how AI agent management evolves, why metadata is the true north, and how enterprises canharness this evolution for real-world impact.
